We have given a lot of thought to the meeting package "Meeting with meaning" to be absolutely sure that we at Metalskolen Jørlunde can stand behind the product. Since we have been doing CO2e accounting since 2021, we have a good amount of data on which we base our experience. It has been shown over the years that catering for our guests is the one that costs the most in the CO2e accounting. Therefore, it is here in particular that we have our focus on reducing CO2e, while at the same time improving the quality of raw materials.
We believe that responsibility starts with consideration – for animals, people and the planet. That’s why our package is not vegan or vegetarian, but is put together with great respect for animal welfare and sustainability. When we calculate the CO₂e emissions of our meals, we can always make a conscious choice and minimize our climate footprint. For us, it’s about transparency and responsibility – and about creating a better future for everyone.
When booking “Meeting with meaning”, the CO2e emissions of all meals are calculated. These meals are prepared with the aim of protecting the environment, improving animal welfare and reducing CO2e emissions.
The basis for comparison is based on the average of the kitchen's total CO2e emissions in 2024 divided by the number of visitors to Metalskolen Jørlunde
We have the data on emulsion factors from our largest suppliers and the Large Climate Database. The catering in the “Meeting with meaning” package emits approx. 9 C02e/kg depending on the season, which gives a total saving of 21% per guest.
The emissions from the stay itself without catering are 4.5 CO2e/kg per participant based on a 1 ½ day conference. This figure is based on our climate accounts from 2024 divided by the number of visiting guests. The emissions include electricity, water, heating, waste and linen in connection with one overnight stay.
The transport here, for you as a guest, also produces emissions.
We encourage carpooling and are happy to help you book a bus for shared transportation. You can also fill out a form describing how everyone got there and we will calculate the emissions.
For us, animal welfare and ecology go hand in hand with sustainability and consideration for nature.
Therefore, part of the menu will consist of meat from happy pigs raised at Solhøjgård under the open sky and with a windbreak as a scratching post.
In collaboration with Nørre Søby Slagteren, we ensure that all meat is utilized and that sausages and hams are prepared in the most delicious way.
Biodiversity plays a big role both on the dinner table and in nature. We have therefore taken this into account both as a parameter in the selected foods, but also when you look out the window during the meeting.
Our gardeners are constantly working to develop habitats for native species and are happy to share their knowledge if you meet them along the way.
Tips for a more sustainable meeting
1. Before the event:
Use environmentally friendly paper or electronic mail for invitations, programs, and follow-up materials for future participants.
Inform future participants about the possibility of public transportation to the conference venue.
Encourage carpooling by sending a list of participants.
Arrange shared bus transportation
Place the event in a suitable-sized room so that too much energy is not used in a room that is too large.
2. During the event:
Use electronic media so that participants can view presentations, participant lists, practical notes, etc. on mobile phones, tablets or PCs.
The participant folder and its contents should be printed on environmentally friendly paper or sent electronically.
Place pads and writing utensils so that participants can use them as needed.
Avoid using unnecessary light – Dim or turn off all or part of the light during daylight.
Only use disposable packaging in special cases, e.g. for outdoor activities, and only biodegradable products.
Remind participants to sort their waste.
3. After the event:
Recycle unused materials.
Recycle name tags.
Turn off lights when you leave the room.
Send presentations electronically.
